The contrasts and colours of winter light
For me, it wasn't the easiest place to take photos. I was not sure of cultural attitudes and I needed pockets full of Euros as picture taking had become a lucrative business for the locals. I took most of my shots from the hip feeling under pressure to capture the exotic atmosphere of the place, berbers who come to town to spend winter there and avoid any confrontation at the same time. And I suppose this was the best thing that could have happened, because I got back home with the film full of surprising images.
When you think Marrakech, you naturally think colour. But I could not resist b&w on a bright winter day.
Village berbers are very friendly and welcoming.
Medina is best at noon when the sun is high in the sky and penetrates narrow streets.
Mint tea pot...not much say about it, but i this light and colours it looks rather handsome.
