Marrakech

The contrasts and colours of winter light

Photo: For me, it wasn't the easiest place to take photos. I was not sure of cultural attitudes and I needed pockets full of Euros as picture taking had become a lucrative business for the locals. I took most of my shots from the hip feeling under pressure to capture the exotic atmosphere of the place, berbers who come to town to spend winter there and avoid any confrontation at the same time. And I suppose this was the best thing that could have happened, because I got back home with the film full of surprising images.

Thanks all. @Oliver, stayed in a ryad in old medina. It was winter (apparently rains a lot but I was lucky with beautiful sharp sun light). The restaurant I visited has been blown up by a bomb recently though :(
